Great location, extremely quiet and very clean and comfortable rooms with fully stocked kitchen facilities and excellent heating. We overnighted, breaking our journey through the Haast to Wanaka. A very cosy welcoming stay. An easy walk to restaurants for dinner and a ChargeNet charger across the road, perfect! I highly recommend.

Aspen Court is a very comfortable and luxurious place to stay – whether for one night or more. We stayed previously several years ago for our wedding anniversary during the winter months and found the rooms welcoming – warm and spacious. This time it was for a single night to break the journey home from further south. We were not disappointed on our return in the facilities or high standards in the accomodation.

My wife and I and another couple stayed in an apartment in February 2023. We were impressed on how clean the apartment was coupled with a great shower, spa bath and kitchen. Also, close to several restaurants nearby.

There were 2 other families who booked with us as we were all doing the Heli Hike tour. The room (bed/bathroom/) had a modern look. Beddings were clean and comfy. Service was excellent. I couldn’t fault it. Very good value for the money. Plus it’s across from the Heli hike touring company and short distance to cafes and nice restaurants.

We only stayed one night, but the room was wonderful. We loved the “fern garden” outside the bedroom window! Front desk was super helpful and pleasant, and we were a short walk to everything. Would definitely stay again and will recommend to friends.

We have stayed 2 nights, and really enjoyed the stay. This is the best motel that we have ever stayed with. We have given 10/10 rating in Booking site, and really want to recommend to others. Some of the points that really like are: spacious – large living room, bed room and bathroom; high standard facilities – lovely kitchen with powerful range hood; and classic room service – for example the display of the cutleries in kitchen draws and warm towels on the rack. We stayed for three nights in mid-Nov 2022. The rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and everything worked. Looks like the interiors have been recently renovated to a high standard. We highly recommend and would definitely return.

We stayed only one night but wish we could have stayed longer. When you walked into the room it smelt fresh and was immaculately clean. Two of our windows had an outlook into the rainforest. It was the small touches in the room that made it extra special. Little packets of biscuits, extra towels, fresh milk in the fridge (not long life milk) , even a little washer for your makeup. Highly recommend this accommodation & would definitely stay here again.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Aspen Court. Both times it has been extremely clean, comfortable and the room is a good size. We like the location within walking distance of town but far enough away to be quiet. The first time we had our dogs with us (they sleep in the truck) but this wasn’t a problem when I spoke to Peter and we were able to back the truck up right outside the room. 2nd time it was Pam in reception both are lovely. We have already recommended to friends. We travel up the coast at least once a school term & will definitely stay again.

Place was absolutely beautiful, clean and spacious. Spa in the bathroom was the best thing ever after a long drive. We arrived late at night after a very long drive from Mount Cook, had no reception through Haast so were unable to contact the hosts before they closed, but they were the loveliest hosts in that the left us a note on the reception door giving us instructions on what to do. Peter and Pam were the best, only sad we didn’t get to meet them because we checked out early the next day. Would 100% recommend this place and if we were to come to Franz again, this would be the place to stay!!! Thank you Peter and Pam!

My wife and I stayed for one night during our Haast Pass trip. Excellent accommodation, very clean, warm, well appointed and well situated, with restaurants within easy walking distance. I’ve got an electric vehicle and there is a Chargenet fast charger just over the road. Also Peter (manager) is happy for you to plug your car into your room too, at no extra cost.

Have stayed at another Aspen Court before and was very happy with them. So we booked with Aspen Court Franz Josef. I am so pleased we did. Room was perfect, clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back.

We have stayed here a few years ago and loved it so I was very pleased to see availability for the night I wanted to stay. The rooms are gorgeous, exceptionally clean and very comfortable beds. Very quiet and it was so lovely looking out to the bush. Great location and couldn’t be more happy with our stay. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back hopefully next year.

I would totally recommend Aspen Court Franz Josef for many reasons – the facilities were modern, either very well maintained or recently refurbished – based on the condition. We stayed in 9 hotels/motels over a 16 day Road Trip in South Island, and I would easily rate this property as 1 of the Top 3 ! The set-up of the Motel was such that it was great in allowing us to socialise with others in our travel group. Peter and Pam were friendly and I would definitely go back to Aspen Court when I am back in Franz Josef !

Unquestionably the best Motel we have stayed in New Zealand. Our room was exceptionally appointed with all the things we needed. Best of all the bed was comfy and the towels fluffy! The little added extras like the guest bbq and picnic table that captures the evening sun all made for a wonderful stay. We would give 6 stars if that was an option. .

Modern motel with all the facilities, good service, good people, good location, comfortable bed. Five stars, no hesitation. Then we had the bonus feature: right outside our door were flowering flax plants and, in the morning, we watched tuis and bellbirds dropping in to sip the nectar from the flowers only three metres away from us. Magic! Another five stars, right there.

Excellent facilities, and a convenient location. This would have been a 5 star experience but for the very soft bed. While for some such a bed may be really comfortable, for those of us with any back issues soft beds are a chiropractors dream. It took four towels folded in half to take out the sag, and while I am 1850 mm tall I am not over weight, so I am sure that many others will have had the same experience. As one night on a soft bed causes major pain, requires pain and anti inflammatory medication, and often a trip to the chiropractor, this is not a trivial matter. However as a very frequent traveller I rarely have an issue with Hotel or Motel beds, as most are appropriately firm, and so I did not think to make a special request re the quality of the bed. Next time!

Hi there Mike, sorry to hear your concerns with our beds. They are from the Sleepyhead Commercial range and certainly are not old. We do have toppers on the mattresses which does soften but I always find them quite firm myself. We do understand that everybody has different requirements so apologize for any inconvenience.
